HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer

GETTING CARTRIDGE ERROR ON HP ENVY 4520. HAD AN EXTRA (BLACK) AND INSTALLED IT SAME ERROR. TRIED REMOVING AND RE-INSTALLING CARTRIDGE AND UNPLUGGING POWER SUPPLY. STILL GET SAME ERROR MESSAGE

It sounds frustrating to encounter a cartridge error on your HP Envy 4520 printer, especially after trying troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional suggestions you can try.

 

  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer carriage. Make sure they are dry before reinserting the cartridges.
  • Check for Protective Tape: Ensure that there is no protective tape or cover left on the cartridge. Sometimes, this can obstruct the contacts or sensors, causing errors.
  • Reset the Printer: Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is still turned on. Wait for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in and turn on the printer. This can sometimes reset the internal sensors and resolve the error.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix compatibility issues or bugs causing errors.
  • Try a Different Cartridge: If you have access to another cartridge (even if it's the same color), try installing it to see if the error persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the cartridge itself or another component of the printer.
