HP 8600 plus

Hello,

 

My HP Printer 8600 plus has 2 issues.

 

1- l keep getting a message says that Y Ink Cartridge is damage,

 

I tried to replace it with 2 brand new ink cartridges, but still getting the same message.

 

I tried to clean the contacts as well, but it didn't work.

 

2) l am trying to scan some papers through ADF, and when l open the documents on my pc all the  pages that l scan, are blank even when l tried to copy papers from ADF. (Note: this issue is from day one that l bought the printer and l didn't bother myself as the scanner is working well but ADF is not working properly).

@Lyaliuae, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

To resolve the issue with the ink cartridge, make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge

Also, use HP genuine ink cartridges.

 

If the error persists for the Yellow ink cartridge, this could be an issue with the printhead of the printer as you have already used 2 new yellow ink cartridges.

 

Check the scanner bar functionality

 

Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.

  1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
  2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.

If the scanner light does not move or moves halfway or is not lit, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed/broken.

 

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Update the printer firmware

Both these issues are hardware related. If the issues are not resolved, I suggest you upgrade the printer as it is out of warranty. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.
