I replaced my color printer cartridges yesterday and no matter what I do, it won't print in color. I cleaned the ink jets, verified that the cartridges were properly seated in the printer, and have printed about 12 test pages but all I get is black ink and a little smear of yellow. I used the HP Print & Scan Doctor app and it says everything is fine.

Hi @MJKellySmith

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to help you with the printing issue.

Let's try these steps - Print Quality Issue

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding this. If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!

Hi, Asmita.

I already did all those things before I posted my question. I also completely uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software but  that didn't help, which told me it was likely a hardware problem.

I took the printhead out completely and I've been cleaning old ink out of it with rubbing alcohol. When that finally runs clear, I'll reinstall the printhead and try again. And yes, I'm assuming it's out of warranty. It's a few years old. I just hate to replace something that *could* work because it's such a waste of resources.

I'll post again if I get it working (or if I don't.)
