macOS 10.12 Sierra

iPad6 or MacBookPro send command to print, the status changes from ready to idle and printer will not print. Printer is HP OJ 3830. Usually turning off the printer and unplugging the power cord then plugging it back in and turning printer on solves the problem. Now this does not work. How to fix?

Hi @walt_olson,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Are you using the HP Smart App?

Let's try the below steps to see if that helps -

Could you perform a ping test using the Mac Terminal and let me know the results? Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by selecting the wireless icon on the printer display. Use the command Ping 192.168.0.1   after 10 pings ctrl c ( the IP mentioned here is just an example)

The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold option on the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera. Share the ping test results and the screenshot with us.

Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.  Bonjour locates devices such as printers, and other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
