HP Recommended

After a brief power failure HP printer displays error msg saying paper jam even though no paper jam. I have unplugged & replugged & tried a variety of suggestions to no avail. Also, says printer was not shut off correctly which is true because it was a power failure. Any suggestions?  This is the 3rd HP printer I have had trouble with. Anybody else have repeated problems.  I'm thinking 3 strikes, you're out.
