The black was just emptying into the right side of the inside of the printer - had to get a new one.

Not working again.  I am over HP, the lack of preformance and lack of customer support.

We left the printer to sit for 2 weeks, it finally started again.  HOWEVER, it kept telling me that my brand new cartridge was empty, so I put in another one.  It tells me that it is still empty.  So I buy a brand new cartridge.. now it is back to not printing again.  It will print the test/diognostic page, but nothing else.

I ran into this exact same issue. My printer won't print black. I ran clean head many times. Still don't solve the problem. Can someone help?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! Smiley Happy I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Photosmart 5514, you are unable to print in black ink and you have ran the print head cleaning many times with no success.

 

I would like you to continue here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.

 

Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.

 

If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. Please let me know which Country/Region you are in as well as the product Warranty status: HP Warranty Checker

I have the exact same printer  Photosmart 5514 and ran into the exact same problem. It won't print black no matter how many times I ran the clean head tool. Can somebody help with a solution?

HevnLgh I have an HP Photosmart 5514 that recently stopped printing black ink. I have done all of the steps posted on trying to clean the printerhead and all the good stuff. After spending lots of $$ on new ink I am about done with this printer. I have been using HP printers for years and this is the first time I have ever had a problem with one and it is almost enough to turn me off from EVER buying an HP anything ever again. If you could give me any other advice that would be most helpful.

 

My printer was out of warranty in July of last year so that isn't going to help any. I am in the US in the Midwest.
