This printer has a Carriage Jam. I've gone through all the steps to fix it, but nothing seems to work. It makes a sound of the carriage moving back and forth, and then 3 clicking sounds as though something is trying to move but can't. I've unplugged it and taken the printer cartridges out, checked for jammed paper, moved the carriage from right to left, replugged it in and though you can hear the carriage move back from the left position to the right position (because I'd moved it across when it was unplugged), the clicking sounds then happen and I get the error message saying that the Carriage is jammed. Any help would be appreciated? If it isn't something I can do on my own, some knowledge of how much it would be to get fixed would be appreciated?

Welcome to the HP Community

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Hi Raj

I had already gone through all of the steps provided on the link and unplugged it as explained, however, they did not fix the problem. This printer needs to be fixed by a professional or replaced. Can you advise further?

Many thanks.

That's what I tried to do from the start, but sadly the HP Support form didn't recognise the serial number of the printer and so that's as far as I could go....somebody wrote in another post that HP accidentally put 8 in their serial numbers instead of B, but because there's more than one in mine, there's quite a few options. How can I get through to support directly without needing to go through this form where you have to enter the Serial Number?
