Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I keep getting the following message on my 8620 HP printer - "lift the latch on the print carriage, reseat the print head and then remove the cartridges and inspect for leaks".  Can anyone help me?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printer error. This looks like an issue with the Printhead. 

 

Let's try to re-seat the Printhead. Please refer to step# 2 to 4 from here

 

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Thanks Asmita your reply is very much appreciated.  Unfortunately the solutions didn't work as I wiggled the print carriage 3 times and it has the latest software.  i suppose now i will have to order a new print carriage. Tim

Appreciate you trying the steps. If the ink cartridges are still in-warranty, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your regarding this issue.
