I have cleaned the printhead twice but still the boxes that should have yellow on the test page are printing gray and black.  I only use Genuine HP cartridges and have plenty of yellow ink.  I have also tried disconnecting the printer from the power for 50 minutes and ran a firmware update

Hi @cd-SCAP ,

Thank you for your reply

I understand  you've already tried some troubleshooting steps, but there are a few more things you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Check Cartridge: Even if it's a genuine HP cartridge, sometimes cartridges can be faulty or have dried ink. Try replacing the yellow cartridge with a new one to see if that resolves the issue.
  • Manual Cleaning: Sometimes, a printhead cleaning cycle may not be sufficient to remove clogs or dried ink. You can try manually cleaning the printhead. You'll need some distilled water and lint-free cloth or cotton swabs. Dampen the cloth or swab with distilled water and gently wipe the printhead nozzles to remove any dried ink or debris. Be careful not to touch the electrical contacts.
  • Print Quality Diagnostic Report: Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report from the printer's control panel or software. This report can provide more detailed information about which nozzles are not firing properly.
  • Printhead Replacement: If manual cleaning and multiple printhead cleaning cycles don't resolve the issue, it's possible that the printhead itself is faulty or damaged. In this case, you may need to replace the printhead.
  • Printer Reset: Performing a full reset of the printer to its factory settings can sometimes resolve software-related issues. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
