HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e All-in-One Printer

Printed alignment sheet with just black ink cartridge (no color cartridges) and received "printer failure" message.  Unplugged printer and turned back on but no change.  Left printer unusused for days still not change.

Hi @SINGLETON1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've encountered a technical issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e printer. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check Ink Levels: Even if you're only printing in black, some printers require that all cartridges have ink to function properly. Ensure that all cartridges have sufficient ink.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the ink cartridges or within the printer itself can get dirty or blocked. Carefully remove the black ink cartridge and clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth. Also, clean the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge sits.
  • Reset the Printer: Try performing a hard reset on the printer. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Update Firmware: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve various issues.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if you didn't have a paper jam initially, it's worth checking the printer thoroughly for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Check for Error Codes: If the printer is displaying a specific error code, look it up in the printer's manual or on the HP website to determine the cause and possible solutions.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue with your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
