I have followed all the steps to solutions suggested in previous threads (multiple times) to no avail.  I am attempting to print a PDF via wireless connection. This includes:

1. Checking that paper size in printer setup matches std US letter size paper loaded in tray (no issue here and I have not changed paper in years)

2.  Removing (-) printer from Mac OS preferences

3.  Re-adding (+) printer to Mac OS preferences

4. Resetting factory defaults in on HP printer > Setup > Tools > Restore factory defaults, and then re-establishing wireless connection with my WiFi router using HP wireless wizard

I really could use some help, PLEASE!

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting a paper mismatch error, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

My printer is an Officejet Pro 8500A. I have read all the posts about this and tried all the things that HP recommends....NONE OF THEM WORK!

What I have found is that the HP drivers for Mac have not been updated. I only get paper mismatch errors on my macs running Catalina and Big Sur.  The mac that is running El Capitan prints perfectly.  Come on HP update those drivers!!!

Thanks, I’m running on Mojave and experience the same paper mismatch error. HP, please update these Mac drivers!
