Help.  My printer keeps telling me it's in an error state and cannot print.  I ran the troubleshooter under HP smart and it gave me all ok except there was an issue with the print queue which it resolved but yet the printer won't print.  The wifi connection is working properly, it is not offline, the paper is loaded properly, the ink levels are fine.  I've deleted all documents from the print queue.

Hi @Sherry48

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Also, try printing a test page from the printer

  1. Press and hold the Power button, and then press the Cancel button .

  2. Let go of the Cancel button, and then the Power button.

    A test page prints.

If the printer is able to print a test page and is able to make a copy, the hardware of the printer is working fine. We can troubleshoot on the driver part.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
