Recently the printer got balky. It sometimes prints, sometimes not. I can no longer print a document with color photos that would print just the other day. We dumped the printer and reinstalled  and it worked for about 24 hours. Tried it again to no effect. Theoretically I update software for the printer from the printer, and it has made no difference. The printer alignment page is of no user to me because the scanner does not see it/recognize it. I just tried to download a firmware update/fix and was told that the firmware updater does not contain upgrades for your device. Any ideas?

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

  • Are you able to make photocopies on the printer(both black&white, color)?
  • How is the printer connected to the computer?
  • Did you make any changes to the computer or the printer recently?
  • Which application are you trying to print from?

Since my December post have up updated my system to Big Sur (OS 11.1). I had a lot of help from Apple support in terms of downloading and installing HP updates and HP Easy Scan. The latter, in my case, is a misnomer because I still cannot scan or copy. The effect of this inability, means that printer heads cannot be aligned. I am spilling bucket loads of ink on cleaning the printer heads. If the printer goes any length of time w/o being used--say overnight-- it will not print color accurately out of the gate. The printer heads always have to be cleaned at least twice before the print out is good enough to click Finish. Printing black and white is easier, but also touch and go. The  printer is wirelessly connected to my iMac desktop. 

 

I'm trying to print from Pages version 10.3.5 (7029.5.5).

This looks like a hardware issue.

 

Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
