macOS 10.14 Mojave

Just got a new (genuine HP) cartridge, installed and got this error message. Reinstalled the old cartridge, same message. Checked for firmware updates, same. Cleaned contacts on cartridges and in printer with q-tip with alcohol, same. Help, please.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand you are not able to print due to an ink cartridge error. I'd be happy to assist you.

 

This printer supports printing in single-cartridge mode. Remove the defective ink cartridge and try to print with the other cartridge.

 

If you have tried the steps mentioned in this document, and the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer as you are getting the same error for the old ink cartridge.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
