Just recently my Office Jet Pro 8710 started taking a long time to print a color page.  I have tried everything I can think of.  I have checked for updates, tried to work through the HP Smart app , etc.  Nothing is giving me any help.  I also tried to ask a Chat question and since my printer is not under warranty it tells me it can't help me.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I hate to buy a new printer since I have several ink cartridges for this one but so far that seems like what I may have to do.

My computer operating system is MacOS Monterey.  It's possible that HP has not done an update to work with this operating system.

@Kathryn1965, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer takes more time to print a color page. To assist you better, how about printing a black and white document?

  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Try making a standalone color copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

In the print settings, if the print quality is set to Best, the printer will take more time to print when compared to Draft or Normal mode.

Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Slow printing

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
