Hi @Carol250 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're encountering a problem with your HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer where it's displaying a message regarding the printer or ink system, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Restart the Printer: As suggested in the message, turn off the printer and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.
  • Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly in their respective slots. Make sure they are not empty or expired. Replace any empty or expired cartridges.
  • Clean Contacts: If the ink cartridges and printer contacts are dirty or covered with dust, it can cause connection issues. Carefully remove the ink cartridges and clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water. Be gentle to avoid damaging the contacts.
  • Reset the Printer: Some HP printers have a reset option in the settings menu. You can try resetting the printer to its factory default settings to see if that resolves the issue.
  • Update Printer Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware and drivers installed. Visit the HP website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware and drivers compatible with Windows 7 (32-bit). Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Check for Paper Jams: Paper jams or obstructions inside the printer can also cause ink system errors. Open the printer cover and check for any stuck paper or debris. Clear any jams carefully.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
