I recently upgraded to Win 10 and I can't get Wifi direct to work.  I see the printer listed in the network connections.  I connected and entered the security passcode but it won't connect.   It say "No internet, secured" in the network connections list.

Refer to this document: https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/c04577030 for Printing with Wi-Fi Direct.

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Restore the printer to the original network settings

1. From the printer control panel, touch and slide your finger across the screen, touch Setup, and then touch Network Setup.

2. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then touch Yes. A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

3. Touch OK.

4. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset

Now try connecting the printer to the network.

I got the Wifi direct to work.  The only issue I'm having now is scanning.  I can scan from my PC using the HP Smart app but when I try to scan from the printer to the PC the printer doesn't see my computer.  Please advise.

Enable scan to computer.

To enable scan to computer, try the steps below:

1: Search Windows for your printer model name, and click the printer name in the list of results. HP Printer Assistant opens.

2: Click Scanner Actions, and then click Manage Scan to Computer.

3: Click Enable to activate the scan to computer option.

Try to scan.

If the issue persists, Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check Scan issue.

Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  6. Try to scan.
