My printer was connecting to my network but my computer would not see it all of a sudden and said it was not connected.  I think I may have restored to factory defaults and now I have NO wifi access to try and reset the printer connection to a network connection.  I seem to have NO way to turn on my wifi on my printer.  I can connect it via a cable but need wifi access.  Please help

@shadowhmd,

I reviewed your post and I understand that printer is not connecting to your wireless network.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check whether the issue is resolved.

The HP Print and Scan Doctor might get this sorted out

Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from this Link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

Run PSDR v5.0.2

Once the PSDR detects the Printer, it will show up the IP address and Software Status.

Select the correct Printer and click on Next.

PSDR will check if the Printer is on the Network and communication between the PC and the Printer. Once the connection check is done, click on Fix Printing

Once PSDR goes through all checks and automatic fixes, click on Print a test page.

Regardless if PSDR printed the test page or not, click on “NO PRINT”

PSDR will then notify you that there is an update available, click on continue, and PSDR will apply the patch and ask for a reboot.

Post restart the PSDR will run automatically to check for more issue.  If no issue found close PSDR.

Also, try using the HP Smart App and let me know if that helps. Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hp-smart/9wzdncrfhwlh

Hello - Thank you but this did not work. The wireless light does not come on and whenever I check the wireless settings I I see the following message:  To use this feature, the printer must be connected to the network.  Make sure wireless has been turned on or that the Ethernet cable is securely connected and then try again.  Also, try turning off the router and the printer, and then turning them on again - the router first and then the printer

When I go to settings and select Network Setup:  I am told that network capabilities have been disabled.  Contact your administrator or the person who set up the printer.

I just cannot seem to get the wireless feature to turn back on so that I can attempt to connect to the network wirelessly.

also I see a network icon on my touchscreen but no wireless icon.  I cannot activate the wireless feature so I am stuck

@shadowhmd,

I recommend you follow the below steps and restore the factory defaults on the printer and then try connecting the printer to your router.

1. From the printer control panel, touch Setup.

2. Touch Printer Maintenance.

3. Touch Restore.

4. Touch Restore Factory Defaults.

A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.

5. A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

Touch Restore.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Still does not work.  I only see a network connection icon and no wireless icon.  If I select the network Icon I get the same message about the network capabilities being disabled  and to contact the administrator who set up the printer.  That would be me.    Is there some hidden tool that enables the network capabilities??

I saw other posts that had someone say they would send a solution privately...  What is the secret to getting this to work?  My printer will print  and appeared connected to the network  - even thought it said it wasn't prior to all of these resets.  Now it will not connect to my wifi at all.  I cannot even get the wifi symbol to turn on the wifi connection.

I fixed my own problem.  I finally found the hidden menu which allowed me to re-enable the wireless settings.   Thank you

@shadowhmd,

We need to perform a semi-full reset to fix this issue. However, as the steps to perform a semi-full reset are confidential and specific to your printer. I will be sending you a private message please watch your inbox for more information.
