hp envy inspire 7924e

Every time the printer is switched on it shows the blue screen code: 8AF31472 and it takes 3 or 4 attempts at switching off, removing and reinserting the plug and switching on before it eventually starts.

The printer is 3 months old and the problem has occasionally happened since new but is becoming more frequent and now happens most times it is switched on.

Hi @plantagenet,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP Envy Inspire 7924e error code that you are encountering on startup with a bluescreen could indicate a variety of issues. Some possible causes and troubleshooting steps you can take are.

  • Hardware failure: The bluescreen error code could be a result of a hardware failure, such as a faulty RAM module, hard drive, or other components. Try opening up the computer and checking for any loose connections or damaged components.
  • Driver issues: Sometimes, outdated or corrupt device drivers can cause errors on startup. Try booting the computer in Safe Mode and updating or reinstalling the drivers for your hardware.
  • Operating system issues: A corrupt or damaged operating system can also cause bluescreen errors. Try running a system repair or restore, or reinstalling the operating system.
  • Virus or malware infection: Malware infections can cause a variety of issues on a computer, including bluescreen errors. Run a full virus scan using updated antivirus software to check for and remove any infections.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your response.

However, the faulty device is a printer, not a computer, opening it up would, I assume, void the warranty.

As it is still under warranty, HP should replace the device.
