I am still getting to know my new printer. Il has gone well until I try to print off my bank statement. This has the numbers shown on a light blue background in two columns. On my PC screen all is well, but when I try to print the sheet the blue background runs over from one column to the other obliterating the the other numbers. I can work round this by taking a screen shot and printing that - but I would like to be able to do it the easy way.
My old Canon printer, which has been pensioned off never had this problem and I've not fiddled with the printer settings of the PC .
Any suggestions?

It's a translation problem - or, more precisely, the printer cannot translate the content.
Yes, a Screenshot or Snip works - saving and printing the content as a .jpg file requires no translation of the data.
If you have not done so, Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.

After installing the printer software,
Adjust the Printing Preferences to select your preferred Shortcut and settings.
Set the Preferences – Windows
NOTES
- This section is not applicable to Mobile Printing.
- Access to the complete Printer Preferences requires having installed the Full Driver printer software.
- Printing Preferences are available directly from the driver.
- Printing Envelopes? See NOTE
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers
Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences
- When called from within printing software / applications, Printing Preferences might be called "Printer Properties" / "Shortcuts" / “More Settings” / “Properties” / "Printer Setup" or similar.
- No Size? If the size of the Paper Size is not included in the Drop-down list, consider / try: Create a Custom Paper Size Form. Reference: HP Printers - Creating Custom Paper Sizes
NOTE >> Word > Mailings > Envelopes :: Preferences and Envelopes
Select / leave Printing Preferences Shortcut to "Everyday Printing" or something equally benign.
Example - Printing Preferences > Shortcut "Everyday Printing"

Will that be enough to print from your browser?
Maybe - it depends on whether the translation can be sorted.
Try (after installing the printer software) opening More Settings in your Browser print menu.
Print from the Printer Dialog (which takes you to the Printing Preferences setup)

You can also try downloading the bank statement as a PDF file and printing that.
HP Smart can print a PDF file.
It works best when the application can fully access the More Settings > Select Shortcut and options.
Example - HP Smart - Windows - Simple Document Print
Adobe Reader DC can print PDF .
This software also is somewhat dependent on the full driver software having been installed.
Example - PDF Print - Adobe Reader DC > Main Menu
