Hi @pat335,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried a few troubleshooting steps, which is good. Let's delve deeper. Here are some additional steps you can try:

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and unplug it. Remove the cartridge that's giving the problem. Clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Make sure they are dry before reinserting the cartridge and turning the printer back on.

Reset the Printer: Sometimes a simple reset can resolve many issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it, and wait for about 5 minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with newer cartridges. You can check for firmware updates on the HP website or through the printer's control panel menu.  https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Check for Debris: Inspect the cartridge and the carriage area inside the printer for any debris or foreign objects that may be causing the problem. Use compressed air to blow out any dust or debris gently.

Try a Different Cartridge: If you have access to another cartridge, preferably a genuine HP cartridge, try inserting it into the printer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem lies with the cartridges themselves or with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
