I am trying to print a black and white word document on a Samsung CLX-4195FX. The printer has 65% black and white cartridge and zero percent in the yellow, magenta, an cyan toner cartridges. When I run the Samsung diagnostics, it tells me that the three toner cartridges are "Toner worn".

When I try to print a notepad test of "This is a test of the Samsung printer", Windows 10 try to spool the document to the printer. Initially, the notepad document has a status of "Printing". The printer is on but the Notepad document never prints.  The Samsung printer status windows open and let's me know I am out of color ink.  By the way, the printer is setup to print Grayscale.

Thanks for any help.

Dennis

One clarification, greyscale does not always mean device does not need color, often greyscales are created using composite color. The setting you need to change is in printer preferences and it is a setting for print text as black only, but likely this device will still not operate without color. This is to reduce the risk of damaging the printer as empty cartridges can cause issues with the power supplies as some printers measure the resistance of the toner to adjust the high voltage circuits.

You will not be able to print even in black if you have empty colour toners.
