I have an iPhone 11 on which I had the Samsung mobile print app installed. It used to work like a charm, but nowadays, I can't do anything with anymore. First, I couldn't see the selected phots from my iPhone, then the app was also unable to find/connect to the printer where this was no problem at all: the printer was detected and connected within a second or so.

I tried the HP Smart Print app as a replacement as HP took over the Samsung printer division. But this app cannot find/connect to my printer at all. Either when I let the app search for it or when I manually enter the correct ip address.

My apple iphone airprint service finds the printer without any trouble.

However, I need a specific print app that can handle images better and gives me more options. I can understand an HP print app cannot work with a samsung printer, but please, provide a samsung print app for these samsung printers as HP took over the Samsung Printing division.

Is there any option of getting a non-commercial printing app working with my printer? I cannot ask HP: when I enter my product code to register my printer in my account, I get the message: enter a valid serial number. Apparently: HP doesnt have my printer in the list with devices they took over from samsung for support.

My wife has an adroid phone and can print without any difficulty using the samsung mobile print app /printing service.

Hi @DutchArjo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with printing on your Printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.

D)  Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Hello, thank you for replying.

The issue has nothing to do with my printer but only with a decent print app for ios not being available.

The original Samsung mobile print app worked perfectly but cannot be used now anymore unfortunately.

My wife has no issues with printing from her Android device using the Samsung mobile print app and service.

The only problem is no such app and service is available for iOS.

And the second problem is it is impossible to register my printer in my account in order to get support.

No matter what I enter under product number or serial: nothing is accepted although I exactly followed the given instructions for registering a Samsung device.

But that was already in my original post so I don't understand why I get suggestions like taking out the cartridges 🙄

Hi @DutchArjo,

I am sorry to hear that the above steps did not help much but i do appreciate your efforts in performing the troubleshooting steps.

Kindly refer to the steps on this link to add the printer using Mac built-in driver and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Hello Irwin,

Thank you for your help.

I do not understand the above suggested solution. I will explain my hardware situation below:

I have a microsoft surface laptop2, an Acer laptop, my wife has an Android smartphone (samsung A34), I use an iphone 11 and an iphone 14.

And, as mentioned, we have the samsung sl-c460CW color laser printer.

I dont' understand what using a mac driver has to do with getting the printer working on my iphone. I don't own a Mac computer. I just have 2 iphones (oh and my wife owns an ipod pro).

The samsung a34 prints without problems using the samsung mobile printing driver for android devices.

the iphones were able to print without problems until the samsung mobile print app was discontinued and not available anymore (or did not work as needed due to ios version upgrades perhaps).

Now, I don't have a decent print app to use on my iphones (for selecting images to print, or change other print settings which cannot be changed using the airprint service in iOS.)

2 questions:

1: How can this be fixed? (have a decent print app for iphone)

2: How is it possible I cannot register my printer in my HP account to get support when I follow the specific instructions. Even the specific instructions under "serial number for samsung devices"  or how it may be listed on the website. No matter what I enter, the serial/product name is not accepted (and therefore I cannot continue).

3: can I get all the need information to build my own iOS print app using the samsung mobile print app (It surely can made working again I assume).

Hello Irwin,

Do you perhaps have any other suggestions /solutions?

Is it possible to have the it department make the hp mobile print app also suitable /compatible with the Samsung printers?

Thank you for helping with this issue.

Second question: is there anything churned in not being able to register my Samsung printer in my account  (because of not accepting the Samsung printer serial number)?
