Hello HP Support,

I am using an HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 11 and an Epson L1800 printer connected directly via USB.

The printer works perfectly on another PC using the same USB cable, so the printer and cable appear to be functioning correctly.

Issue:

- Windows detects the Epson L1800 printer.
- Printer status shows Ready / green check mark.
- USB port is configured as USB003.
- Print jobs are accepted and briefly appear in the print queue, then immediately show as completed.
- No pages are printed.
- Epson Status Monitor consistently reports “Communication Error”.
- Test Page printing also fails.
- Device Manager does not show a dedicated “Printers” category for the Epson device.

Troubleshooting already performed:

1. Reinstalled Epson L1800 driver multiple times.
2. Removed and re-added the printer.
3. Changed USB ports.
4. Replaced the USB cable.
5. Restarted Print Spooler service.
6. Cleared print queue and spooler files.
7. Installed all Windows Updates, including Optional Driver Updates.
8. Disabled bidirectional support.
9. Updated HP drivers and BIOS (if applicable).
10. Printer continues to work normally on another PC.

Request:
Please help diagnose whether this is related to HP USB controller drivers, Windows 11 printer subsystem issues, USB device enumeration problems, or any known compatibility issue affecting Epson USB printers on HP Pavilion laptops.

Thank you.

See this thread Solved: No DOT4_001 port to select when installing HP Universal driv... - HP Support Community - 902...

installing the Dot4 msi linked there should fix your problem.

Also note that Epson website states that this product is discontinued but they still appear to offer support
