Hi @Jklh,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've encountered an issue where the system is not recognizing your credentials after deleting some files, possibly essential system or user files. Here are a few steps to try and resolve the issue.

Use Safe Mode to Access Your Account

  • Turn off your HP laptop.
  • Turn it back on and press the F8 or Shift + F8 key repeatedly as soon as the HP logo appears to enter Advanced Boot Options.
  • Select Safe Mode from the options.
  • Once in Safe Mode, try logging in with your PIN or password to see if the system recognizes your credentials.

Use Another User Account (if available)

  • If you have another user account on the laptop (like an admin account), try logging in to it.
  • From there, you can attempt to restore the files you deleted or fix the issue with your original account.

Reset Your PIN or Password

  • On the login screen, select I forgot my PIN or Forgot Password option, depending on what you are using to log in.
  • Follow the instructions to reset it via your Microsoft account or a local account, depending on what you use for login.

System Restore (if needed)

  • If the above steps don't work, you may need to perform a System Restore to return the system to a point before the files were deleted.
    • Turn off the laptop.
    • Turn it on and immediately press F11 or Esc (varies by model) to access the Recovery Environment.
    • Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
    • Select a restore point before you deleted the files.

Reset the Laptop (as a Last Resort)

  • If none of the above methods work, you might need to reset the laptop to factory settings.
    • In the Recovery Environment (accessed via F11 or Esc), choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
    • You can choose whether to keep or remove your files. If you need to keep your files, select Keep my files.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
