Hi @Paulsharon,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Photosmart 7510 is experiencing issues with copying and the automatic document feeder (ADF), there could be several reasons behind it.

Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help you address the problem:

  • Check for Paper Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams in the printer, especially in the ADF. Even a small piece of torn paper can cause issues with feeding.
  • Clean the Scanner Glass: Sometimes, dirt or smudges on the scanner glass can interfere with the copying process. Use a clean, lint-free cloth and a small amount of glass cleaner to gently clean the scanner glass.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on again. This can often resolve minor software glitches.
  • Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings for copying are configured correctly. Make sure the paper size, type, and other settings are appropriate for the documents you are trying to copy.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve overall performance. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Test with Different Documents: Try copying different types of documents to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the problem may be specific to certain types of documents or paper.
  • Inspect ADF Rollers: Check the ADF rollers for any damage or debris. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol. Make sure the rollers are dry before using the ADF again.
  • Check ADF Sensor: The ADF may have a sensor that detects when paper is loaded. Make sure this sensor is not blocked or obstructed in any way.

I hope this helps.
