Samsung M2020W
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Downloaded Oct 2018 Firmware ready to install across wifi.  Not possible...  Installed printer on USB, dragged HD file to usbinst.exe as instructed: brief flicker of a console box then nothing.  Either USB is blindingly quick or nothing has transferred.  Firmware still reads as old.

OS: Windows 10 Professional - Feb 2019.

Compare that to an Epson printer of similar vintage which happily updates across wifi via Epson software.  Samsung software does not allow this.

Any hints gratefully received - I'm hoping firmware update will make the wifi experience far more stable!

Thanks,

N

Thanks for the reply however I am not sure what you want me to do.  The link just takes me to the Support Contact page which then asks me to call a number or register the product.  The registration link doesn't work, the product was registered with Samsung when I first bought it and the 'Toll-Free" number is in the US: I'm in the UK and 10 minutes on that number will cost more than the printer!

It is a trick - a vermin trick trying to get your attention, your information, and your money.

Sneaky.

Do not call / contact - I will remove the trash.

I began to think that was the case when I saw deciphered the URL!  Thanks for spotting and warning me anyway!

I have some progress: I got the printer into 'download' mode which apparently I shouldn't be able to.  I then used the usblist2.exe from a command line with the firmware file as an argument: the printer rejected it, went into 'major error' mode and reset itself properly - so now the default credentials work!

Firmware file is still wrong though...

You are welcome.

Vermin attack every community, forum, and likely many of the social media sites (I do not have accounts with these).

Know that regardless of the community, forum, or website, it is likely infested.  This state of affairs is apparently "today's normal".

Thank you for being alert!

As for the issue with your printer - I do hope it is solved.  Personally, I cannot help with this.  Sad face here.

If you continue to have issues, start a new thread with your question so it will garner the attention of one of our Experts (and hopefully no more rodents).

Good Luck.
