Samsung SL-C2670FW
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Our department just inherited a Samsung SL-C2670FW, and it is working great - except it loses it fax settings (no. of rings to pickup, among other things), when it gets turned off/loses power. I have updated to the latest firmware (V4.00.01.45), but the problem still exists. This is really annoying. Any idea how to fix?

Ok I thought, I'll just save my settings to a backup file, then if the power goes out I can easily restore. Great plan!

However.

When I attempt to restore the saved file, and I click the "Import" button, the resulting (non-editable) full pathname is always "C:\fakepath\<name of file>", no matter where the saved file is on the HD. And to add insult to injury, I see a note off to the right of the window: "Device will reboot automatically after Cloning is complete."

How on earth did this printer make it out of QA?

I would change the battery on the mainboard to see if that helps. Standard CR2032 by the looks of it.

Great idea! I will try that.

Any pointers to printer disassembly instructions, to get to the mobo?

Well, I replaced the battery (fortunately didn't need to tear the whole thing apart - it was accessible from the door on the right side of the printer), but unfortunately that did not help - admin password, fax settings, address book, among others were still wiped when I powered off the printer.

Cmon HP fix this!
