Hi @Sandra197,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your Samsung C460 laser printer is printing only full black pages, this issue could be due to several factors. Here’s a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to help you determine whether you need to replace components like the HSPV (High-Voltage Power Supply) or address other issues:
1. Check the Toner Cartridge
Verify Toner Levels:
- Ensure that the toner cartridge isn’t empty. Even if it seems like it should have toner, a malfunctioning cartridge can cause issues.
Inspect for Toner Leakage:
- Remove the toner cartridge and check for any signs of toner leakage or spillage. Clean any spilled toner from inside the printer.
Reinstall Toner Cartridge:
- Remove and reinstall the toner cartridge to ensure it is seated properly.
2. Inspect the Drum Unit
Check the Drum Unit:
- The drum unit transfers toner to the paper. A damaged or defective drum can cause full-page black prints. Remove the drum unit and inspect it for damage or toner buildup.
Clean the Drum Unit:
- If the drum unit is dirty, clean it according to the HP instructions. Be careful to use appropriate cleaning methods as recommended in your printer’s manual.
3. Check the Imaging Unit
- Inspect the Imaging Unit:
- Some printers have separate imaging units that can become faulty and cause printing issues. Check the imaging unit for any signs of damage or wear.
4. Verify the Printer Settings
- Check Print Settings:
- Ensure that the print settings on your computer are not set to print in black or with a black background. Sometimes software settings can inadvertently cause printing issues.
5. Inspect the Fuser Unit
- Check the Fuser:
- The fuser unit heats and presses the toner onto the paper. A malfunctioning fuser can cause printing problems, including full black pages. Look for any issues with the fuser unit and consult the manual for instructions on how to inspect or replace it.
6. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Print a test page or diagnostic page to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is related to specific settings or if it’s a hardware issue.
- Use any built-in printer diagnostics or maintenance tools available through the printer’s menu or software.
7. Reset the Printer
- Perform a Factory Reset:
- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, try performing a factory reset. This can restore the printer to its original settings and might resolve software-related issues.
8. Check for Firmware Updates:
- Go to the Samsung or printer HP website and check for any firmware updates for your model. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix bugs or issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Dear Rachel, thank you so much for your reply.
1. 2. 3. 4. cartridges, drum and image units, printing settings check ok
5. Could be this one. The full page is printing full color , it is a mix of all the colors, I said black but it is dark brownish. So the printer is printing but full pages and not the text or image sent. kindly let me know if you would still recommend to change the fuser unit or something else?
6. 7. 8 are ok
Thanks
