Xpress M2625D
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

Recently I have come across a problem with my printer, it's a Samsung Xpress M2625D. It registers in the Operating System (using Windows 10 64-bit) as ROOT-DOWNLOAD and the driver installation software (taken from the HP site) will not find it even when following the instructions. Upon powering the printer up, the status LED first lits up green, only to lit up red after a few seconds and it stays that way until I power the printer down (only possible by yanking the power cord out).

Is there any way to rectify this issue? Thank you.

Do you get an error code on the printer? Normally that would happen when you get the LED lights you are getting. You could try installing the Easy Print Manager to see if you can see any error codes that way, but if the printer is not detected that might not work either.

Thank you.

With Samsung Universal Printer Driver, the installation software can find the printer labeled "ROOT-DOWNLOAD", if I choose "Existing printer" and it is later visible in Samsung Easy Printer Manager, with an error saying "Printer Status is not available. Please check power and data cable connection". However, the printer is connected both to power socket (and turned on) and to the computer via a USB cable. Physically, both cables are connected properly. After unplugging and plugging the printer, Samsung Easy Printer Manager says "The printer is in an error state". No further details available, sadly.

If I try installing the regular M262x_M282x Series Win SPL PCL driver, the above does not apply; the installation software cannot detect the printer at all.

Both driver installation packages were downloaded from HP site.

Sounds like the firmware is corrupted. I suggest you try to upgrade the firmware.
