scx-3200
Samsung scx-3200 with red LED

Greetings,
I have a Samsung scx-3200 with red LED that no longer prints.

I have tried all the reset procedures I found here

https ://www.ereset.com/samsung-scx/fix-firmware-reset-scx-3200-scx-3205-scx-3205w-scx-3207/

but it can't even load a sheet to print and in fact it gives me an error about missing paper.

They told me it happened because they updated the firmware and it no longer accepts compatible toners but I don't think it's just that.

What can be done in your opinion?

Is the problem solvable?
Or are there other hardware problems?

Is there Samsun software to diagnose these printers?
I found this but it doesn't say much

Who can I contact?

I attach photos.

Hi @antolepore1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your Samsung SCX-3200 is experiencing multiple issues, including firmware compatibility and possible hardware malfunctions (such as the paper feed system). Let's address these problems step-by-step.

1. Red LED & Firmware Issues

The red LED on your Samsung SCX-3200 usually indicates an error, such as a paper jam, toner issue, or other hardware malfunction. Given the update to the firmware, which you mentioned might be causing the printer to reject compatible toner cartridges, this could be contributing to the problem.

  • Firmware and Toner Compatibility: Samsung printers, especially after certain firmware updates, can lock out non-genuine toners. If you believe the firmware update is responsible, you could try:
    • Rolling back to an earlier firmware version (if available).
    • Using a genuine HP Samsung toner to see if this clears the error. Some third-party toners may trigger this issue.

If the firmware cannot be downgraded or you are unable to obtain a genuine toner, this problem may persist.

2. Paper Feed Problem

Since you're getting an error about missing paper, the issue could be with the paper feed mechanism. Here's what you can try:

  • Check Paper Tray Alignment: Ensure that the paper is properly loaded, aligned, and not stuck. Also, check the paper sensor to make sure it isn’t obstructed.
  • Paper Path & Rollers: Check for dust, debris, or worn-out rollers that might be preventing the paper from feeding into the printer. You can gently clean the rollers with a damp cloth and make sure they are gripping the paper properly.

3. Hardware Diagnostics

Unfortunately, there isn't extensive Samsung-specific diagnostic software for home users to troubleshoot printers like the SCX-3200. However, you can try using Samsung Printer Diagnostics (now under HP support since Samsung sold its printing division to HP).

Here’s the document you found:

This tool might help identify basic issues like connection problems, but it's not guaranteed to fix firmware or mechanical issues.

4. Possible Solutions

  • Test with a genuine toner cartridge: If the printer firmware now blocks compatible toners, testing with an official toner cartridge may at least resolve this issue.
  • Firmware Downgrade: If you can find an older firmware file, try downgrading to a version that supports compatible toners. Be careful during the downgrade, as improperly flashing the firmware can brick the printer. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Printer Reset: Perform a factory reset (if not already done) by holding down the Stop button for several seconds when powering on. This may clear some errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

You haven't been very helpful if you search on YouTube you will find procedures that say to push ++ and -- in sequence but this procedure doesn't work the only solution seems to be to install third party firmware from ereset and ikchip which however are paid and they are nowhere to be found on the internet.

can you help me find them for free?
or do you know how to downgrade the firmware?

Hi @antolepore1,

Thank you for your reply,

Firmware Downgrade/Reset:

Downgrading the firmware on your printer can be tricky because official firmware for Samsung printers is typically not made available in downgraded versions by Samsung. If you don't have the original firmware version, you might face difficulties with the downgrade process.

However, there are a few steps you can try:

  • Try to Reinstall Original Firmware: Sometimes the "red LED" issue can be resolved by reinstalling the latest official firmware via the printer's USB port or a direct network connection. You can look for the firmware version that was last known to work on your printer model on official Samsung or HP (which now owns Samsung's printing division) websites.
  • Use Samsung Printer Software: Some printer utilities (like Samsung Easy Printer Manager) can help with resetting the printer and installing or updating firmware. Try uninstalling the printer driver and reinstalling it to see if the firmware can be updated or reset.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accept as Solution on the public post, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Have a great day ahead!
