Microsoft Windows 11

Unable to wireless connect Samsung SCX-3205W to my network.  I have tried (2) variations of the install for wireless connectivity using the latest driver from the HP website, still a nogo.

a)Using the wireless connectivity option, i do not receive the option to key in my SSID, since the search did not identify this.

b) Tried USB connectivity installation, this works fine

c) used the cancel option after my SSID was not displayed,  then continuing, i received:

Device data error, setup failed to bring WLAN data from selected printer,  this was after successfully providing USB connectivity.

Looking forward to suggestions.

Hi @SCX3205W

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're facing a challenge with wirelessly connecting your Samsung SCX-3205W printer to your network. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Ensure Printer is Ready for Wireless Setup:

  • Make sure the printer is powered on and in wireless setup mode. Look for a Wi-Fi button or option in the printer menu to enable wireless mode.

2. Check Wi-Fi Settings:

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is broadcasting (SSID is visible) and that you are trying to connect to the correct network.

3. Use WPS (if available):

  • If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can try this method:
    • Press the WPS button on your router, then press the WPS button on your printer (if available). This should establish a connection without needing to enter the SSID.

4. Manually Configure Wireless Settings via Printer Panel:

  • Access the printer’s control panel to enter the wireless settings manually:
    • Navigate to the network settings, select the option to enter the SSID, and input your Wi-Fi password.

5. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer has the latest firmware. Sometimes connectivity issues can be resolved with updates. You can check the Samsung website for firmware updates specific to your printer model.

6. Check Firewall and Security Settings:

  • Ensure that your router's firewall settings are not blocking the printer. Temporarily disable any security features on the router to see if this allows the printer to connect.

7. Try a Different USB Connection Method:

  • Since you were able to connect via USB, try using that connection to access the printer’s network settings through the Samsung software. This can sometimes allow you to set up the wireless connection from a connected computer.

8. Reset Network Settings:

  • If all else fails, reset the printer’s network settings to factory defaults. This usually can be done through the printer menu. After resetting, try to set up the wireless connection again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
