The "Accepted Answer" didn't work for me either.

Somehow, there's a "disconnect" between the AirPrint printer driver and the actual non AirPrint driver that was previously listed.

It was a very simple fix for me.  And obviously having two basically identical printers listed doesn't impact anything regarding printing.  And you're still able to AirPrint from a mobile or tablet device.

I'm curious, is your printer a multi-function printer/scanner?  Because the Samsung Easy Document Creator scanning software no longer works either with Catalina.  Apparently, it's a 32 bit software.

I have the scanning solution as well, if you need it.  It replaces scanning with the Samsung Easy Document Creator software and uses the Mac proprietary ImageCapture app, scanning from there making sure you ONLY use the JPEG option as output.  Then, you can open the scanned jpeg document in Preview and Export as PDF if you need a pdf document.

I have a standard B&W laser printer, specifically the Samsung  Xpress M2835 DW. It's always been reliable, so it was driving me nuts that I couldn't use it after installing Catalina. I Googled a lot of troubleshooting tips before hitting on this page. (In fact, I hadn't realized HP bought Samsung's printer business, which is a real head-scratcher.)

MacOS Catalina drivers were officially released by HP.

However there is an issue.

After installing them and choosing to use AirPrint, printer will malfunction. If I try to print a single page, It will print endless pages with strange symbols on 1-3 lines until you pull the drawer or shut down the printer. Cancelling has no effect at all.

I tried to re-install, this time choosing to use Samsung C48x instead of AirPrint. It will print as normal but every time I try to print I get a message BasicOptionPDE.bundle is damaged. I guess the drivers need a bit of work to behave normally.

I agree. Drivers are available for download. But installation fails :

"Installation failed. Please contact your representative".

Note :  you must force security to allow this installation to began (go to System Preferences/Security and allow install program. But it fails at the end.

I spoke about Scanner Drivers.

Good morning.

This worked. Many thanks.

Hello @budnick1, when you said "this worked", you mean that was able to install and use C48x Scanner drivers for a Mac under Catalina ?

Same problem here. Having to resort to (luckily for me I can) using the app on my iPad to print and scan to my printer. But it is a faff and I want to be able to use it natively via my MacBook Air.

Come on HP,  please sort it.

I have tried this solution and it does not work for me. I have two printers listed, one AirPrint, the other Samsung C48x (designated the default printer). When I try to print, either I get one line of gibberish on multiple pages, or I get the following error:  "rastertosec"can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated.Contact the developer for more information.

My solution is a mix of most of the ones below.

There are two issues.

1) The installed software causes Apples security systems to complain so it doesnt work.

2) AirPrint is not working

Fix 1

When you install the package, you have to override the permissions for the packages.

How?

1) Open system preferences > security & privacy on the "general" tab below the line (the bit where it says "apps downloaded from") are applications you try to install which are not properly signed by the original provider.

You have to "open" them from here, which then pops up another dialogue saying "do you want to open this application", say "yes"

2) Now you can install the package, but...

2.1) I received a "BasicOptionDPE.bundle" is damaged message. Fix that following the above System Preferences process.

2.2 ) When you try to add the printer, it may complain, so leave open the systems preferences security page, and say "open" if any more security issues happen.

3) add a printer, bonjour should find the printer, it will identify with AirPrint, change use to "Samsung 2020 series" (in my case)

4) You now have a printer, but if you try to use it you have more errors, so lets fix them too.

4.1) Open textedit , and put some data into it.

4.2) Apple+P to Print, now you will  get errors about prefilter and rastertosec packages. So you have to force sign them in the System Preferences too

5) NOW you should be able to print.

I found that if I deleted the printer, and re-added it (specifying the proper Use entry) all my error messages were gone and the printer worked.

I was able to install the drivers with no issues at all. I have the Gatekeeper turned off, so this might be the case.

However the "BasicOptionDPE.bundle" is damaged message is still there, and I cannot bypass it no matter what I do.

HP is aware of this problem. I've filed a bug report and they told me that the drivers are still in BETA stage.

Have you done something to make this message disappear?

Thanks!
