It's a well documented and often reported problem with Samsung scanners, that ever since HP took over the reigns, some of the device's key functionality are no longer working in MacOS.
For example, I'm no longer able to scan directly to PDF when using the recommended Image Capture program that comes with MacOS. While I can scan to any other bitmap-image-file like jpeg or png just fine, the output PDF is always corrupted and can be opened in ANY app on ANY system.
I was able to systematically replicate this issue under MacOS 10.14 and up. It also doesn't matter if the device is connected over AirPrint or by manually using the dedicated Samsung/HP universal drivers. I've also tried every available driver version and also went through the setup-process multiple times.
I expect HP to finally acknowledge and address this issue. Otherwise I'd be hard-pressed to ever buy computers or peripherals from HP again.
