Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded from win 7 to win 10 and now my 3030 scanner will not work with the built in window fax and scan.

I can print to it but it does not show up in the scan software. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @mks82,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with your HP 3030 scanner after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the problem. Here's a step-by-step guide.

Check HP Website for Updated Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your HP 3030 scanner. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the most recent drivers compatible with Windows 10.

Update Windows: Make sure that your Windows 10 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes and improvements that can resolve compatibility issues.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Scanner:

  • Disconnect the USB cable from the scanner.
  • Open "Devices and Printers" on your computer.
  • Locate your HP 3030 scanner, right-click on it, and select "Remove device" or "Uninstall."
  • Reboot your computer.
  • Reconnect the scanner to the computer and let Windows automatically reinstall the necessary drivers.

Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type services.msc and press Enter to open the Services window.
  • Locate the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service.
  • Right-click on it, select "Properties," and ensure that the startup type is set to "Automatic."
  • Click on "Start" to start the service if it's not already running.

Check Scanner Connection:

  • Ensure that the scanner is properly connected to your computer via a USB cable.
  • Test the connection by trying a different USB port.
  • If the scanner has a power switch, make sure it's turned on.

HP Scan and Capture App:

  • Download and install the "HP Scan and Capture" app from the Microsoft Store.
  • Open the app and check if your scanner is detected.

Compatibility Mode:

  • Right-click on the scanning software shortcut or executable.
  • Select "Properties."
  • Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
  • Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select the appropriate Windows version (e.g., Windows 7).
  • Click "Apply" and then "OK."

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the scanning issue with your HP 3030 scanner on Windows 10.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
