3830 will connect wireless to macbook air but wont connect to scan

I cant figure out how to connect my officejet to my macbook air, my prior macbook connected just fine. wirelessly it will print but it will not scan wirelessly or hardwired. 

trying to scan old photos of my grandfather for a time sensitive matter and of course! last minute I realize it's not working. any help is greatly appreciated!

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

• Have you tried using the Apple Image Capture?
• Did you make any changes to the printer or the computer recently?

Meanwhile, ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update software on Mac 

Try scanning.

If the issue persists, we can try updating the HP Easy Scan App. Here us how you do it-

Uninstall the printer software and reinstall it. Refer to the document HP Printers - Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac)  for help. Once you have the latest software, try scanning.
