Hi @BeanBen7,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with the HP 3835 All-In-One printer not scanning multiple pages through the document feeder, but only capturing the first page, can be frustrating. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps and settings adjustments to help resolve this problem:
Check the HP Software Settings: Ensure you're using the HP software to scan and that it's set to scan multiple pages. In the HP scanning software, there should be an option to select 'Document Feeder' if your printer has one, and 'Save all to a single file' or an equivalent option that allows multiple pages to be saved into one document.
Update Printer Firmware and Software: Outdated firmware or software can lead to functionality issues. Visit the HP website, find your printer model, and check for any firmware or software updates. Installing the latest updates can resolve unexpected issues. Click Here
Clean the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder): Dust or paper residue in the ADF can cause misfeeds or scanning errors. Turn off the printer, and gently clean the ADF rollers with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly moistened with water.
Check the ADF Rollers: If the rollers are worn out or damaged, they might not be feeding the pages correctly through the scanner. Inspect the rollers for any signs of wear or damage. Replacement may be necessary if they are in poor condition.
Reset the Printer: Sometimes, a simple reset can resolve scanning issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can help clear any errors or misconfigurations.
Check the Paper: Make sure the paper is not too thick, thin, or damaged. The ADF may have trouble feeding very thin or thick papers or papers that are wrinkled or damaged.
HP Scan Software Settings: Within the HP scanning application, ensure you've selected the correct document type and format that supports multiple pages, such as PDF. Some formats like JPG typically do not support multiple pages in a single file.
Scanner Lid and Sensor: Ensure the scanner lid is fully closed when using the ADF. If the printer thinks the lid is open, it might not function correctly. Also, check if there are any sensors that detect the paper in the ADF and ensure they're clean and unobstructed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel. Thank you kindly for the recommendations. I have done these but still not working. I have the document feeder selected, but there is no option for multiple pages. It does take them all but only the first page registers.
