Scan to PC disconnects randomly.    The post above is identical to what we discovered.   It has occurred for years since the moment of purchase.   HP support, even paid support has been zero help.   The suggestions above are worthless.   HP print and scan DR  is a joke,  It tells me I don't have the current software drivers even i after installing the latest's update.    After several attempts and reboots it works, for a while then back to square one.....

HP has suggested that my network card is defective, however the printer works just fine,.... on the same network card... its the scan to PC that screws up.   I'm not the only one with this issue,  it's a theme across multiple threads on the web.   We have put up with it as the printer was a $1,000 new and I'm not ready to toss it out.

I've paid for HP support to solve the issue, and even had two paid IT techs come out to assist.  Everyone says it's an HP software problem

I believe the issues has to do with routing connections, possibly  bonjour communications issues between scanner and routers.

HP  is there a solution to this?

Hello Riskyplan,

You can check the following:

  • Make sure both devices (printer and computer) are in the same network segment.
  • To prevent future problems, you can set static IPs on both devices.
  • Make sure your printer has the latest Firmware installed.
  • Make sure your computer is up to date in terms of Windows updates.
  • You can uninstall the printer drivers, reboot and reinstall drivers to re-add the printer. That will force the re-creation of the link between your printer and computer so you can perform scan to computer as that link is done by the full software solution.

As an alternative, you can consider setting up scan to network folder or scan to email on your printer. Also another alternative is using the scanning software from your computer as most likely that still works even when scan to computer does not.
