it seems I can only scan from glass but it has a doc feeder.   Can I scan using the feeder?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the ADF scan. 

 

To scan from the ADF, please try these steps -

 

1.) Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the automatic document feeder (ADF).
2.) In the Applications folder or from the Dock, select HP Easy Scan.

3.) Choose the type of scan profile you want and follow the onscreen instructions.
