How do you setup scan to network folder on HP 7740.  Just replaced 2 HP 8720 with HP 7740.  Before, in the web interface I   could  setup scan to network folder.  I do not want to scan to PC interface, I want to scan to network folder directly from printer interface.  We have a shared folder on our server that I want the scans to go to.

Hi @TotalWorks,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To set up scan to network folder on an HP OfficeJet Pro 7740, you typically need to follow these steps.

Prepare your Network Folder: Ensure that the shared folder on your server is set up correctly with appropriate permissions for the printer to access it.

Locate Printer's IP Address: You need to know the printer's IP address. You can usually find this by printing a network configuration page from the printer's control panel.

Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the printer.
  • Enter the printer's IP address into the address bar and press Enter.

Access Scan to Network Folder Settings:

  • Once logged into the EWS, navigate to the "Scan" or "Scan to Network Folder" section. This may vary slightly depending on the printer's firmware version.
  • Look for options related to setting up a network folder destination.

Configure Scan to Network Folder:

  • Enter the details of the network folder where you want the scans to be saved. This includes the folder path, server address, and login credentials if required.
  • Test the connection to ensure the printer can access the network folder successfully.

Save Settings: Once you've entered the necessary information, save the settings.

Test the Scan Functionality: Use the printer's control panel to initiate a scan and select the network folder as the destination. Verify that the scanned document is successfully saved to the specified network folder.

Remember, the exact steps and terminology may vary slightly depending on the printer's firmware version.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @alden4,

Thanks for replying to my inquiry, unfortunately when I access the printers IP address as mention.

I go to the Scan tab and the only option is to computer, does this mean the printer is not equipped for scanning to network folders ?

I have also checked to insure the firmware is all up to date, unfortunately I have a feeling what I thought was and upgrade to my previous printer may actually be a downgrade.
