I have an 8250 flatbed scanner, up until now has worked flawlessly on more than one xp puter for some reason it now comes up with an error box that states the feature you are tryin g to use is on a network resource that is unavailable, looking for solutioncenter.msi. I have reinstalled the full program on both puters, swapped out the usb cable went through all of the available diagnostic tests, unplugged the doc feeder, no joy, I have not been able to find a definitive hard reset proceedure for this 8250, the problem is obviously in the scanner as it thinks it is not communicating with either puter but I was able to download the basic program for a win7 machine and it would scan from that but I was unable to find a proper download of the full version for win7, the HP site pointed me to the Vista download but it is the same file as the XP version,I have also been able to get it to scan from the solutions software occasionaly only after many Xs, cancels and pressing the scan stop and tools buttons on the scanner, I love this scanner and certainly don't want to loose it, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried a third XPP machine, same results, I really think for whatever reason the machine is not talking to the Solution Center program for some reason.
Is there a CMOS battery inside the scanner that needs attention?
A hard reset procedure would really be helpful, taking it apart to get at anything needing work would not be a problem.
