HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

Error message: "Scanner Failure - Unable to scan, copy or send a fax."

 

I have cycled and removed power.  I have tried HP Print and Scan Doctor; it stops at System Utilities.  The scanner bar does not light up or sweep when the device is powered on.  The scan bar does not light up when I open the cover to copy, although I cannot copy because of this error message.  I suspect either the bulb burned out or the bar is jammed.  I don't know how to troubleshoot that specifically.

Welcome to the HP support community.

 

I understand that you are getting a scanner failure error, I am glad to assist you.

You might have to perform a semi-full reset on the printer to fix this issue.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
