So once again a question with regard to ADF:
If I put sheets into the ADF there is a detection, that a document is placed onto the ADF. So why do I have to select the standard infeed (ADF or scanner) in the profiles which are saved in the scanning dialogue? So if I change a lot between these two modes, I always have to do manually settings...
There is no selection for an automatic recognition, which could be saved, right? But wouldn´t make this sense, to have an automatic mode who selects ADF if there is a document placed and recognized and switch to scanner, if there is no doc placed onto the ADF?

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Support Community.
Assume you are using the HP Smart apps? The apps doesn't have an automatic selection.
However, if you're using the HP FULL software solution, for the the "Source" , you can select "Use Document feeder if loaded", hence there is no need to worry if you put it on the glass, it will check the document feeder and if it's empty will scan from glass.
These resources show how to download and install the HP FULL software solution as well as some practical tips on how to use the printer:

Thank you, Greenturtle.
So I see, if I am using the HP scan software it will use the ADF if loaded. Since I live in Germany in my opinion the translation of the dropdown menue is somekind difficult, the 2 options are (retranslated from German to English):
1. Document feeder
2. Flatbed
So there is nothing to see from "...if loaded", bit I see it will work with the HP Full app.
But I got another question: If I use the display at the printer an try to scan to pc, the HP app doesn´t start. Windows will open the Windows fax and scan dialogue. With this I only am able to scan .tif or.jpg files. I´d like to scan to .pdf - is there an option for this?
And in ths windows menue the setting of the infeed (flatbed or adf) is a hard one - the printer doesn´t detect that the adf isn´t loaded and switch to flatbed...?!
Thanks again for any comments and your help so far!
