Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Officejet 8710

Some time in the past few months ADF scans to a network folder, which had worked fine before, are now scanning such that the whole page is compressed into the top 3/5 of the page. It looks like it's compressing a legal sized page into a letter size.

I have tried setting the page size to letter as well as setting it to auto.

If I scan from the glass, it works fine.

Hi @pfaffman

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Try scanning from the ADF. Make sure to check the settings.

If the issue persists, we will have to perform a factory reset on the printer.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

No joy.

I did a full power cycle. I reset to factory from the web interface.

Auto updates are on and  have WBP2CN2006BR from 2020-02-07.

It certainly looks like that an update is what broke this in the first place.

Scans still show the full letter-sized page in just over half of the page.

I've tried various resolutions and file formats, all with the same result.

@pfaffman, thank you for the response.

  • Try making a copy from the ADF and check if that works.
  • Also, scan using the ADF to the computer instead of the network folder to check if the issue persists.
  • If this works fine, re-setup scan to network folder. Refer to this document for more info. Watch this video for a better understanding.

Let me know how this goes.
