The ADF starts to pull a page then stops and says there is an ADF open door error. I can't see where that would be. this is the first time I've ever used the ADF so I can't say whether it worked before or not. The top lid is not closed tight on the glass...meaning there is like a 1/4" crack all around. I put some weight down on it and tried it again but that did not help. Any suggestions?

Hello @Idempke, Greetings!
Thank you for joining HP Forums. I would like to help 🙂
I understand that you are getting ADF open door error message on your printer. Try following the below steps and check:
Make sure the ADF doors are closed on both sides properly. Please check the image below. The red circled part is the ADF door. You can open the door and close the door with little force.
If the issue still persists, try unplugging the printer from the power outlet when the printer is turned on. Wait for 2-3 minutes and then turn the printer back on and check.
Let me know how it goes 🙂
Cheers 🙂

Thank you. I did try those and they didn't help my situation, then I took some photos I was going to post here. But then I tried again and put weight on the left rear corner that the lid doesn't close all the way, and it worked. I think the lid may be a little out of alignment from copying out of a book. but anyways, it is working. Thank you
