HP OfficeJet 6954 All-in-One Printer

When scanning using the document feeder, the pages appear to run through normally, but I receive a "Document Feeder Issue" error message.  I am able to scan using the scanner glass option.  Here is the message.  Any advice is appreciated.  Thanks.

When encountering a "Document Feeder Issue" error while using the document feeder on your HP OfficeJet 6954 All-in-One Printer, but not when using the scanner glass, you can perform the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check the Original

Ensure Proper Loading:

  • Make sure the original documents are loaded correctly into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
  • The documents should be placed face up and the top edge should go in first.

Check for Obstructions or Debris:

  • Open the ADF and inspect for any debris like paper fragments or dust that may be obstructing the path.
  • Clean the ADF rollers and the scan area if necessary; use a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.

Check the Printer Settings and Software

Verify Scan Settings:

  • Ensure the scanner settings are configured correctly in the HP printer software.
  • Access the HP printer software and confirm settings under the Scan settings to make sure it designates the correct scan source.

Update Firmware:

  • Visit the HP support website to check for any firmware updates for your printer.
  • Download and install any available updates to ensure optimal functionality.

Clean the Scanner

  1. Cleaning Procedure:
    • Access and carefully clean the scanner glass, ADF scanner glass, and the ADF strip.
    • Be gentle to avoid scratching the glass surfaces and ensure they are free of smudges and dust.
