This is a nice printer, but I don't remember setting a password or having a login for this printer. I can't make changes for faxing or even getting to the settings tab without it asking for a username and password.

(1)Tried to do a reset by unplugging the printer and the power cord. Didn't work

(2)Reinstalled the software on my mac AND windows (10)

(3)Used the HP Scan Doctor, but it didn't resolve anything

(4) Reinstalled the software on the Windows PC machine, but no change there either

(5) Somehow I used the HP Utility on my Mac and finally at least I got to enable the fax setting so that I could perform faxes. But ever since then everything else is locked. When I type in the printer's address, I get to the printer's EWS page. And it's there that all the different segments are asking for the username and password. HELP! ANYONE? Any help to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

No, these steps did not work, but the private message gave instructions that I actually found elsewhere. That did the trick to do a Semi-restore. So basically, I can make the changes I need to on the printer now, but it will not work on the desktop. But that's ok, because I got the printer settings the way I want them. So to be fair the solution was correct, I just got it from two different sources. Thank you so much for help. Sorry for the late reply.

Hi @peanutsbwf

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Try these steps -

Step 1 Network Restore -

1. From the printer control panel, touch and slide your finger across the screen, touch Setup, and then touch Network Setup.
2. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then touch Yes.
A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.
3. Touch OK.

Step 2 Reboot the devices -

1. Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer.

2. Wait for 60 seconds.

3. Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.

4. Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.

5. Turn on the computer.

Step 3 Run Wireless Wizard -

1. From the printer control panel display, touch and slide your finger across the screen and then touch Setup.
2. Touch Network Setup.
3. Touch Wireless Settings.
4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.
5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

If the issue still persists, I have sent your  a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

I cannot use the instructions to reset my new wifi since the printer requires an admin password to access all of the functions to change the wifi.  I would appreciate a private message telling me how to fix the printer so it is useable.

I cannot access my printer because it requires an admin password to use all of the functions wither to reset to default settings or to change the wifi password, so the printer doesn't work  HELP!
