HP OfficeJet Pro 9022e All-in-One Printer

I used HP OfficeJet models for years to scan all my mail, receipts, etc.. They allways attached a sequential number to the file name automatically, regulated by an internal counter. Example

scans2021_0001

scans2021_0002

That happend for Officejet8500, 8600, etc.

Now I have the new OfficeJet 9022e and there are only the options to add date or time to the file name. How can I just append sequential numbers like "in earlier times" ? If I choose no options, the date and time will be attached automatically.

My hope is that it might be possible by the coded appendix options. Something like %DOCUMENT_COUNTER%

Additional info: I want to use the option "scan to network folder" and not the HP Scan software. The most options for settings I found were on the website interface of the printer, accessed by the local IP Address of the printer.

(Background: I have a page stamp that I use to stamp a sequential number to all scanned documents befor I file them away. So its an easy way to find the scanned documents / originals if I need them)

Hi @monocult,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have a Windows computer, you can use a built-in feature called "batch renaming" to add sequential numbers to your scanned documents. Here are the steps.

  1. Scan your documents and save them to a network folder.
  2. Navigate to the network folder and select all the scanned documents you want to rename.
  3. Right-click on the selected documents and choose "Rename" from the context menu.
  4. In the Rename dialog box, select "Number (1, 2, 3)" from the "Base name" drop-down list.
  5. Enter a base name for your documents (e.g. "Scan" or "Document") in the "Base name" field.
  6. Click the "Rename" button to rename your documents with sequential numbers.

Alternatively, you can use a third-party file renaming tool like Bulk Rename Utility or Advanced Renamer to add sequential numbers to your scanned documents. These tools offer more advanced renaming options and can save you time if you have a large number of files to rename.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
