4100e won't copy but prints from android phone

If your HP DeskJet 4100e series printer can print from an Android device but is not able to copy, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Check the Basics:

    • Make sure the printer is powered on and there is paper loaded into the tray.
    • Ensure the scanner lid is properly closed before attempting to copy.
  2. Inspect the Scanner Bed:

    • Open the scanner lid and check for any dust or debris on the scanner glass.
    • Clean the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any particles that might interfere with the scanning process.
  3. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn the printer on.
    • Attempt to make a copy again to see if the issue persists.
  4. Copy Settings:

    • Verify that you are using the correct copy settings.
    • Use the printer’s control panel to select black-and-white or color copy and adjust the number of copies as needed.
  5. Update Printer Firmware:

    • Check for any firmware updates available for your printer model. Updated firmware can resolve existing issues and improve functionality.
    • You can update the firmware through the HP Smart App or by downloading it from the HP Support website.
  6. Test with a Different Document:

    • Try copying a different document or photo to ensure the issue is not with the original item being copied.
