Hello.  I have the HP Easy Scan app on my Mac, but I am scanning many, many photos, which the app doesn't well support (running back and forth between iMac and printer).  Instead, I have the computer recognized by the scanner, and scan directly to my Pictures folder.  Unfortunately, even tho I select Photo (jpg) from the scanner, it scans the whole scanner bed.  Then I go through the cropping process and feel my picture quality is diminished.  How can I tell the scanner to crop to item bounds?

@BeachMom, Welcome to HP Support Community!

First, create a preset for scanning using the HP Easy Scan Application. Here is how you do it:

1. Open the HP Easy Scan App > Presets > Click Edit Settings

2. Select Type as Picture > Crop to as Item Bounds. Adjust other settings as required.

3. Click on the gear symbol next to Presets Tab and select Save As

4. You can set a name for your preset and press OK.

Once you have the preset created, close the application.

Follow the steps below to create a preset for scan to computer:

1. Open HP utility > Scan to Computer

2. From the Scan to Computer window select Edit Scan Tasks

3. From Preferences > Save as JPEG > Edit

4. Click Show Details. Under Presets tab select the preset created previously using the HP Easy Scan App. You can select the destination using the Scan To tab. Click Save.

Try Scanning.

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers 🙂
